Documenting the life of My Family...

My Heart in the form of People.

2019 was a year of transitions & adventures. Big life altering changes.

It was a year of healing, a year of holidays, a year of many hello's and many goodbye's. The twins turned 11 and big baby turned 8.

We followed a massive spiritual prompting and found ourselves living in one of our top dream locations on the other side of the world, Melbourne Australia.

We sold our retail store and and I photographed over 2000 people in 2019.

My Family in January 2019

A project within a project. One portrait every day with each child. Some are environmental some are traditional and some include another person to help tell that child's story for the day. It was a massive commitment but oh so worth it.

My Family in February 2019

Woah. So much was happening about here. Preparing to announce the sale of our retail store, Cariloha North Hills, getting rid of many of our belongings and other move preparations, like dropping everything for an impromptu trip to the Australian consulate in Washington DC to get all three kids their first Aussie passport. This month also started a massive three months of full of photographing families, schools, weddings and businesses. It was like the last call for alcohol at a wedding to get in on my photography action. lol

My Family in April 2019

The kids birthday trip (yep, all three April 18 & 20th) to Munich Germany was the highlight of this month. With the vast amount of images, I used mostly those and left off all the ones from a school camp I got to chaperone with the twins as well as all of our goodbye shenanigans as we spent our last couple weeks living in the beautiful North Carolina city of Raleigh. Oh how we loved living there and could have been perfectly happy staying there.

But Australia called and we answered!

May 2019 | My Family photographed

A little break from my photography to see us through the lens of another photographer.

We went to a cafe downtown, then played our way along a walk after tea. It was amazing to not be carrying a camera, be able to freely be ourselves enjoying our time together and concentrate on my sweet family, all while getting to be in the pictures!! The little booklets were individual messages from their classmates stapled together.

Absolutely sweet, funny and perfect.

At some point, I will likely do a few blog posts about the rest of our month since we said goodbye to Raleigh, traveled down to Florida then across the US on a fantastic road trip, said goodbye to my mum who lived with us the last 5 years and then we finally flew across to Pacific to arrive in our new home of Melbourne Australia in time for Guy's birthday!

My Family in June 2019

This is us. Settling into a new life in a new country. All of us together.

My Family in July 2019

Pretty sure we are falling in love with everything now local to us. Great public transport is a dream, our neighbourhood is quite lovely, new friends to hang out with and going to Footy games is the bomb. Go Tiges!!

My Family in August 2019

Lots of firsts for this month! Landon decided to get baptised, Blake fell in love with school sport competitions & bounce a footy well, the boys learned to fly a drone, Maddie found All the ways she could access library books, the kids got closer then arms length from a lion & so much more.

My Family in October 2019

More sport for Blake. He is loving having something to try and master with his boundless determination to do his very best. I was in the States half of September and October finishing up a crazy month of photography work. Boy was it nice to get back and enjoy the everyday moments with my family.

My Family in November 2019

Our second spring in a year. We are loving every minute of it. I pretty much adore our alternative Christmas tree and the kids were loving on Guy's electric scooter.

School show + family visits + Christmas = Great Month

December 2019

Madison was soooo uncomfortable dancing with her class for the school holiday show, but she did it anyway. The boys got right out there and into it. It's hard to believe they fit in so well after only 6 months with all the kids who have been together since prep. This month our thankfulness for the great people around our kids through school and church has been the most poignant.

We were able to take a long weekend trip to stay with cousins in Tasmania. All of us had a fabulous relaxing time enjoying each others company and fawning all over baby. There isn't a kid who doesn't adore my husband. Children feel instantly comfortable with him and love to use my giant husband as a jungle gym. It's fabulous, and witnessing it was one way I knew he was a keeper who would make a great life partner.

We painted a Christmas tree on a big plywood board this year. Happiness. It didn't take up much room and felt perfectly festive as we celebrated Christmas as a little family with Nanny and Auntie Leanne over.
